Hi, I need to start a server where our clan can practice.
but i dont know how to use the rcon of the server
can the rcon e used during gameplay
i need help

you mean starting a source dedicated server ?

then here is the procedure -

when you are starting a server - there is a place for entering the rcon password -

enter any pass there.

then once in game - enter -
rcon_password "whatever pass you entered" (without quotes)

after that you can start giving rcon commands

like rcon sv_alltalk 1 (for turning on alltalk)
rcon changelevel ctf_2fort (for changing the map)
rcon sv_maxrounds 0 (for making the map stay unchanged)
rcon mp_timelimit 30 (for increasing / decreasing time limit)

etc etc.any particular command you need you can ask here.

well i had already done that
but the problem i face is ,can i use the server from game console? or i hav to shift+tab everytime
also when i join my own server shud i enter the ip address of my connection or the server's ip address(whats the difference in it?)
what does command rcon_address mean?

i also hav 1 problem.....whenever i try to join a server my few attempts are wasted due to "disconnected : client dropped by server" what does this error mean?
can it be avoided?
i also hav such files in my steam and tf2 folder, does it create an error : Steam__593046__2008_8_7T10_14_28C11027187.mdmp

ps :i didnt know where to post this so i like to inform that hence forth ss clan will be available for league matches only during afternoon
